Community Terms

Last updated June 28, 2026 · Draft pending legal review

These Community Terms apply when you use the Wylara community features: profiles, posts, comments, photos, shared trips, and places you add to the map. They add to Wylara’s main Terms of Service. If anything here conflicts with the main Terms for community features, these apply. LAWYER REVIEW: Confirm precedence language and how this addendum incorporates the main Terms by reference.

1. Who can use the community

You must be at least 16 years old to create a community profile or post. LAWYER REVIEW: Confirm the minimum age (16 vs 13) against COPPA and the markets you serve; consider parental-consent and minor-data implications, especially the “Family” topic. You are responsible for everything posted from your account.

2. Your content stays yours

You own what you post. By posting, you give Wylara a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, resize, and distribute your content so we can operate and promote the community and the service. This license lasts as long as your content is on Wylara and for a reasonable time after to complete backups and removals. LAWYER REVIEW: Confirm license scope. If Wylara may feature user content in marketing or a newsletter, that use must be covered here explicitly.

You promise you have the right to post what you post, that it does not break the law or someone else’s rights, and that it follows our Community Guidelines.

3. Photos of people and consent

Only post photos you have the right to share. Do not post identifiable photos of other people without their okay, and never post identifiable photos of children who are not your own. If someone’s likeness was posted without consent, they can request removal through our takedown process. LAWYER REVIEW: Add right-of-publicity and likeness-release language; confirm obligations for images of minors.

4. Handles

Handles are assigned, not owned. We can reclaim, change, or remove a handle, including for impersonation, trademark conflicts, inactivity, or names reserved for brands and official accounts. LAWYER REVIEW: Confirm trademark and impersonation handling.

5. Safety is on you, not Wylara

This is the part that matters most. Community content, including “felt safe,” cell-signal notes, road conditions, water, and any other safety signal, is personal opinion and individual experience. It is not verified fact, professional advice, or a guarantee of safety.

LAWYER REVIEW: The following liability and assumption-of-risk language is the highest-priority item for attorney review before publishing. Outdoor activity carries real risk of injury or death; the disclaimer, assumption of risk, release, and limitation of liability must be drafted and localized by counsel.

You use community information at your own risk. Outdoor recreation is inherently dangerous. You are solely responsible for your own decisions, planning, and safety. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wylara is not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from your use of community content, from meeting or traveling with anyone you encounter through Wylara, or from relying on anything another user posts. LAWYER REVIEW: Insert enforceable limitation-of-liability, indemnification, and assumption-of-risk clauses, with any jurisdiction-specific carve-outs.

6. Places members add to the map

Some locations on Wylara are added by members, not by us. A member-added spot, its coordinates, directions, and any details about it are that member’s personal report, not verified data. A spot may be inaccurate, hard to reach, on private or closed land, seasonally unavailable, or no longer exist. A “verified” label only means other members confirmed it; it is not a guarantee of accuracy, legality, or safety.

Before you go, confirm access, current conditions, and that camping is legal and allowed at that location using official sources. When you add a spot, only add places you may lawfully share, do not add locations on private property without permission, and follow our Community Guidelines. LAWYER REVIEW: Add liability language specific to user-submitted locations and navigation (accuracy, trespass, access, and reliance), plus the assumption-of-risk and indemnification clauses above.

7. Donations

Donations to Wylara are voluntary, are not a purchase, and buy no goods, services, or membership benefits. They are non-refundable. LAWYER REVIEW: Keep consistent with the main Terms’ donation language and refund policy.

8. Moderation and enforcement

We screen, hold, remove, or limit content and accounts at our discretion to enforce these terms and the Guidelines. We may suspend or close accounts that repeatedly or seriously break the rules. You can also report content and block other members yourself; blocking hides your content and theirs from each other. LAWYER REVIEW: Confirm enforcement discretion and account-termination language.

9. Removing your content

You can delete your posts and your account at any time. We will remove your public content and the stored image files, though copies may remain in backups for a limited time and we may keep limited records where the law requires. LAWYER REVIEW: Confirm retention and backup language against your data-retention policy.
