Service Description

Wylara is a camping trip planning platform that helps you find, compare, and plan campsite visits across the United States. We combine public land data, user-contributed information, and personalized recommendations to help you choose the right campsite for your trip.

By creating an account or using Wylara, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

Account Terms

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately at contact@wylara.com.

  • One account per person. Shared accounts are not permitted.
  • You must provide accurate information when signing up.
  • You're responsible for any content you post or submit through Wylara.

Subscription & Billing

Wylara offers a free tier and two paid options:

  • Trip Pass— $14.99 one-time. Grants 7 days of full Guide access for one specific trip. Auto-expires. No subscription, no auto-renewal.
  • Guide— $96/year ($8/mo equivalent, billed annually). Unlimited trips and monitors, dispersed camping maps, collaborative trips, priority support. Subscription renews automatically unless you cancel or pause.

Annual subscriptions can be paused for up to 3 months per year so seasonal users don’t pay during the off-season. Payments are processed securely through Stripe. Prices may change with 30 days' notice.

Legacy: Existing Explorer ($48/year) subscribers are grandfathered at their current price and feature set indefinitely. Explorer is no longer offered to new signups.

SMS Messaging Terms

Wylara offers SMS alerts as an optional notification channel for paid users (Trip Pass and Guide). By enabling SMS alerts, you agree to the following:

  • Consent: By providing your phone number and enabling SMS alerts, you consent to receive automated text messages from Wylara related to campsite availability monitoring.
  • Message frequency: Message frequency varies based on your monitoring configuration. Trip Pass holders receive alerts only during their active 7-day window. Guide subscribers have no daily limit. You control which campsites are monitored and can adjust settings at any time.
  • Message and data rates: Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply. Wylara does not charge separately for SMS delivery.
  • Opt-out: You can stop SMS alerts at any time by disabling SMS in your notification preferences, or by replying STOP to any message. After opting out, you will receive one confirmation message and no further SMS will be sent.
  • Help: For help with SMS alerts, reply HELP to any message or email contact@wylara.com. Support is available via email at contact@wylara.com.
  • Supported carriers: SMS alerts are available on most major US carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Quiet hours: You can configure quiet hours in your notification preferences to prevent SMS delivery during specific hours, unless the alert is marked as urgent.

Automated Recommendations Disclaimer

Wylara uses algorithms to score campsites, generate trip recommendations, and personalize your experience based on quiz responses and usage patterns.

Recommendations are informational only and are not safety guarantees. Campsite conditions change frequently due to weather, fire closures, road conditions, and other factors. Always verify current conditions with the managing agency (such as the Forest Service, BLM, or National Park Service) before heading out.

Wylara does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any algorithmically generated recommendation.

Location Data Accuracy Disclaimer

Campsite coordinates, trail data, road data, land ownership boundaries, and map information provided by Wylara are aggregated from third-party public sources including the U.S. Forest Service (including Motor Vehicle Use Maps), Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, Recreation.gov, U.S. Geological Survey PAD-US, state park agencies, OpenStreetMap, Overture Maps Foundation, and user contributions. While we work to keep data accurate, we cannot guarantee that any location pin, road, trail, boundary, or attribute is correct, current, or complete.

Map data is a starting point, not a source of truth. Property lines displayed on Wylara may be approximate, out of date, or wrong. Public land boundaries shown on our maps should not be used to determine whether a specific parcel is public or private. Always identify and respect posted boundaries on the ground. Crossing onto private property is a crime; we do not guarantee that areas shown as public land are, in fact, open to public use.

Always carry a physical map and GPS device when venturing into backcountry areas, share your itinerary with someone who is not traveling with you, and do not rely solely on Wylara for navigation, land ownership, or safety decisions.

Dispersed Camping & Motorized Vehicle Use

Wylara displays USFS Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) data, BLM open-camping areas, community dispersed camping locations, and other information relating to non-reservation camping and motorized vehicle access on public land. This information is provided for planning purposes only.

Motor vehicle use designations, dispersed camping corridors, seasonal road closures, fire restrictions, forest orders, and permit requirements change frequently and may be superseded between data updates. A road shown as open to motor vehicle use on our map may be closed on the ground. A zone displayed as open to dispersed camping may be subject to an active fire restriction, travel management order, cultural-resource closure, or local ordinance that overrides the underlying designation.

Before heading out, you are responsible for:

  • Contacting the local ranger district, BLM field office, or land manager to verify current rules and restrictions for your specific destination.
  • Checking current fire restrictions and forest orders for the area you plan to camp in.
  • Confirming that your vehicle class (passenger, high-clearance, 4WD, motorcycle, ATV, motorhome, etc.) is actually designated for the road you intend to drive.
  • Confirming permit or reservation requirements. Some dispersed areas require a free permit; others prohibit camping entirely during certain seasons.
  • Identifying private property, tribal land, or active-use areas on the ground and giving them a wide berth.
  • Practicing Leave No Trace principles and obeying all posted signs, gates, and closures.

Wylara does not guarantee that a road displayed as open is actually drivable, that a dispersed area displayed as available is currently open for camping, or that you will not encounter a private-property or hazardous condition that our data does not reflect.

User-Generated Content

You may contribute campsite reviews, condition reports, photos, and other content to Wylara. By submitting content, you grant Wylara a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content within the platform.

  • You retain ownership of your content.
  • Content must be accurate to the best of your knowledge.
  • Do not post content that is harmful, misleading, or violates someone else's rights.
  • We may remove content that violates these terms without notice.

Camping, hiking, overlanding, backcountry travel, and other outdoor activities carry inherent risks that no map, app, or planning tool can eliminate. Wylara is a planning and information service, not a safety, rescue, or navigation service.

Wylara is not responsible for any injury, illness, death, property damage, financial loss, or legal consequence that occurs during or arises out of your use of the service or your outdoor activities. You are solely responsible for your decisions and conduct in the outdoors.
