Things people ask us

If your question isn't here, just ask.

Wylara is a camping trip planning platform designed to help you find the perfect campsite. Instead of clicking through hundreds of listings on recreation.gov, Wylara scores and ranks campsites based on what actually matters to you. Check out our features to see how it works.

Every campsite gets a score based on dozens of factors: shade coverage, proximity to water, privacy from neighbors, terrain quality, road access, cell signal, nearby trails, and more. Your camping personality quiz results weight these factors to match your preferences. Someone who loves solitude will see different top picks than someone who wants family-friendly amenities.

You can browse our public campground pages without an account, but planning tools (trips, alerts, scoring, dispersed maps) require a paid plan.

Trip Pass ($14.99 one-time) gives you 7 days of full access for a single trip. Guide ($96/yr) unlocks everything year-round and pays for itself if you plan more than 6 trips.

Trip Pass ($14.99 one-time) unlocks 7 days of full Guide access for one specific trip:

  • Plan one full multi-stop trip with itinerary suggestions
  • Unlimited site scoring on that trip
  • Live availability + cancellation alerts
  • Trip Guide PDF export
  • Share or collaborate on the trip
  • Auto-expires after 7 days. No subscription, no auto-renewal.

Best for casual campers who plan one or two trips a year. See pricing.

Guide ($96/yr, billed annually) is built for frequent campers, RVers, and road-trippers:

  • Unlimited trips and monitors
  • 689+ dispersed camping spots on public land
  • Satellite maps, fire perimeters, and public land boundaries
  • Collaborative trips and shared itineraries
  • Unlimited SMS alerts
  • Pause subscription off-season (up to 3 months/year)
  • Priority support

We replaced it with the Trip Pass. Most casual campers plan only one or two trips a year, and the trial wasn’t a fit for that pattern — people would sign up, plan their trip during the trial, and cancel before billing.

Trip Pass aligns the price with the use case: $14.99 for 7 days of full Guide access on one trip. No subscription to remember to cancel. If you plan trips often enough that buying 6+ Trip Passes a year wouldn’t be worth it, Guide pays for itself.

Yes. Cancel from your account settings whenever you want. You keep access to paid features until the end of your billing period. If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment, you get a full refund. After that, we offer prorated refunds on annual plans. See our refund policy for details.

Not yet, but it's on our roadmap. Currently Wylara requires an internet connection. We're working on offline map downloads and cached trip details so you can access your plans even when you're out of service range.

Dispersed camping (also called boondocking or primitive camping) is camping outside of designated campgrounds, typically on public lands managed by the Forest Service or BLM. It's usually free, with no reservations needed, but also means no amenities like restrooms or water. Wylara maps over 689 known dispersed camping spots with access info, terrain details, and user reports.

The quiz asks about your camping style, comfort preferences, activity interests, and trip priorities. It takes about 2 minutes. Your results create a camping profile that Wylara uses to weight campsite scores and surface recommendations that match how you like to camp. You can retake it anytime if your preferences change.

Yes. Location data is only used to show nearby campsites and calculate distances. We don't sell or share your location with third parties. You can revoke location access anytime through your browser settings. Read the full details in our privacy policy.

Group trip planning is available on the Guide plan. You can create shared itineraries, invite friends to collaborate on campsite picks, and coordinate logistics in one place. Everyone in the group can see the plan, but only Guide subscribers can create and manage group trips.

Email us at contact@wylara.com or use our contact page. We're a small team and we read every message. Guide plan members get priority support with faster response times.
