Overview Cardens Bluff Campground is currently closed due to bear activity in the campground. It will be closed starting 8/28/26 thru 9/2/26 and will be re-evaluated on the afternoon of 9/2/26 for any extension of the closure. At nearly 2,000 feet elevation, Cardens Bluff Campground is located on a peninsula overlooking the 6,430-acre Watauga Lake in Carter County, TN. There are 43 sites, primarily for tent camping.
